Presented is a 1959 Jim Loscutoff Boston Celtics signed contract. Loscutoff was a 6'5" forward who played his entire NBA career for the Celtics (1955-64) and was on seven NBA Champions. Known as "Jungle Jim" and "Loscy," he specialized in defense and rebounding. He was also known as the Celtics' enforcer, a hard-as-nails competitor who would play rough with any opponents who roughed up the Celtics' stars. For his career, he had a 6.2 PPG and a 5.6 TRB. In the 1959-60 season when the offered contract was in force, Loscutoff played 19.1 minutes per game, with 5.5 PPG and 3.9 TRB. In the 1959-60 season, under coach Red Auerbach, the Celtics were 59-16 in the regular season and won the NBA Championship in a seven-game final with the St. Louis Hawks. The two-page offered contract measures 8.5x14". It has the typical mailing folds. In part, the contract reads, "NATIONAL BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION/UNIFORM PLAYER CONTRACT/Boston Basketball Club, Inc." It is dated "26th day of August, 1959." Loscutoff signed for a season salary of $12,000, signing in blue ink as "James Loscutoff Jr." The contract is also signed by Hall of Fame Boston Celtics owner Walter Brown. The contract has the aforementioned folds from mailing, and a few pinholes in spots when it was folded. The contract shows typical slight foxing and some darkening because of the passage of time, but it is in overall good condition.
