Presented is a Mario Lemieux locker room collection of four (4) items, including two locker room nameplates. Lemieux played in 17 NHL seasons (at times between 1984-2005), all with the Pittsburgh Penguins. After his first retirement in 1997, he was almost immediately inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, and when he later returned to playing, he became the third NHL Hall of Fame player (after Gordie Howe and Guy Lefleur) to play in the NHL while already in the Hall of Fame. A big center, 6'4" and 235 lbs., Lemieux led the Penguins to two Stanley Cups ('91 and '92), and three more when he became an owner of the Penguins (2009,'16, and '17). When Lemieux finally retired from playing, he was 7th in NHL all-time scoring with 690 goals, 1,033 assists, and 1,723 points. Among his many awards are four Lester B. Pearson Awards, three Hart Trophies, six Art Ross Trophies, and two Conn Smythe Awards. The items in the offered collection: 1) The Lemieux locker room nameplate that was used at The Igloo, the home arena of the Penguins. Made of plastic, the nameplate measures 2x10", with "LEMIEUX" in white letters on a black background. There are some very small white marks, caused from paint or chipping, in various areas of the nameplate. 2) A nameplate that was used at the 1997 All-Star Game in San Jose. This plastic nameplate measures 1.5x 9.9". On the nameplate is "Lemieux" in white letters, "All-Star Game/San Jose," and "EASTERN NHL CONFERENCE." Both of the above-mentioned nameplates actually hung above Lemieux's lockers. 3) An original 4.5x9.75" color photo matted and framed to 8.1x13.4". The photo depicts Lemieux in a celebratory moment, helmetless and on-ice in his Penguins' uniform. 4) A Lucite trophy in recognition of Lemieux's induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame. The trophy has a base of 2x6.5" and a height of 10.9". The trophy depicts an image of Lemieux near the top. The white letters and numerals read: "Mario Lemieux/Pittsburgh Penguins 1984-94/66/1995-97/613 Goals/881 Assists/1494 Points/39 Hat Tricks/10 Four Goal Games/3 Five goal games/46 Game Scoring Streak/6 Scoring Titles/8 All-Star Games/3 All-Star MVP Awards/2 Playoff MVP Awards/2 Stanley Cups/HALL OF FAME 1997." The statistics on the trophy are of the time after his first retirement and his Hall of Fame Induction. The trophy has a few tiny, barely perceptible "spider" lines on the lower left, but is otherwise in almost pristine, excellent condition. The offered four-piece collection makes a great remembrance for one of hockey's best all-time players.
