Presented is a circa 1997 Ken Griffey Jr. Seattle Mariners game used hat, from his American League MVP era. The cap is the Seattle Mariners style worn in 1997 and 1998. Griffey's father, Ken Griffey Sr., was most known as a Cincinnati Red, but the older Griffey played alongside his son in Seattle in 1990 and part of 1991. In 1997, the younger Griffey, known as "The Kid" and "Junior," won the AL MVP when he batted .304, with 56 home runs and 147 RBIs. Griffey had another stellar year in 1998, when he finished in 4th place for the AL MVP, batting .284, with 56 home runs and 146 RBIs. Junior hit 630 lifetime home runs, seventh on the all-time MLB homer list. The navy blue cap has a metallic silver brim, a metallic silver button on top, and the Mariners logo on front. On the back inner hatband are three tags: Authentic Diamond Collectible/MLB manufacturer's tag, New Era "the 5990 Pro Model," and "100% wool, size 7 1/2 Dry Clean Only." The number "24" is written under the brim in fine tip black marker by an unknown hand. The cap shows nice wear, and yet it is in nice condition.
