1981 Wade Boggs Pawtucket Red Sox game worn jersey and pants. Before Wade Boggs established himself as one of the best Major League baseball hitters of all time, he worked his up through the minor leagues from 1976-81. He made his last stop in the minors in 1981, playing for the Pawtucket Red Sox. This road uniform is from his 1981 season. Boggs had a stellar year in '81, batting .335. Boggs autographed the front of the jersey with a blue Sharpie and noted this with an inscription. He wrote, "To Dick, Best Wishes, Wade Boggs, 1981 .335 INT. LEAGUE BATTING CHAMP." Above the signature, PAW SOX is across the chest, with each letter individually sewn into the gray pullover-style jersey. "18" is sewn to the back of the jersey in red lettering with blue trim, matching the font style on the front. A Wilson, size 42 tag is sewn inside the jersey at the neck. Boggs's pants complete the uniform set. The pants are gray with red trim. Boggs autographed the left pant leg in blue Sharpie and included "#18 INT. LEAGUE BATTING CHAMP." A size 32 Wilson tag is sewn inside the pants at the back waist area. "18" and "Boggs" are written in faded black marker inside the pants' pocket area. There is also another number written next to the 18 for the player who wore them before Boggs. A MEARS LOA accompanies the uniform.
