The signature grades out as an 8/10 and the ball is in decent shape, though it does show some age toning on the leather. Traded to the Yankees in 1960, Maris and Mickey Mantle would go on their famous home run chase during the 1961 season, with Maris winning the battle and holding the single-season home run record (61) until 1998. While Maris is not in the Baseball Hall of Fame, he is considered to be an iconic player and his memorabilia is highly collectible. Maris died in 1985 at the age of 51 after battling cancer.
