Presented is a 1950s Detroit Tigers team-issued jacket, not a retail jacket. The blue jacket has a satin body with cuffed waist and sleeves. The waist and sleeves have blue and orange stripes. It has a very faint handwritten "6" under the collar tags. A Wilson manufacturer's tag and a size tag are in the collar, but the size tag is too worn to see the size. A Detroit Tigers logo in orange felt is sewn on the left chest area. The are seven working snap buttons down the front. Only two Detroit Tigers wore #6 in the 1950s. Outfielder Pat Mullins wore the number from 1947-53, and Hall of Fame outfielder Al Kaline wore #6 from his rookie season in 1954 through his final season in 1974, all with Tigers, and then the number was retired. Mullins was a solid player who batted .271 lifetime after missing four seasons for military service in World War II. Kaline batted .297 for his career, won 10 Gold Gloves, hit 399 home runs, and was one of the Tiger stars for the 1968 World Champions. The jacket shows use but still in nice condition.
