Displayed is a 1934 Type I snapshot of Babe Ruth tossing a baseball to a Japanese crowd, cigar in his mouth and his baseball cap turned backward generations before Ken Griffey Jr. started the trend. A team of American League players, many of them All-Stars, toured Japan in 1934 after the regular season had ended. The American team had Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, Charlie Gehringer, Left Gomez, and other stars and good players. Connie Mack was brought along as an advisor. Also along was catcher and American spy Moe Berg. The opponents were Japanese players who would become the Yomiuri Giants, Japan's first professional team. The Americans won all 18 games played on the tour, in cities like Tokyo, Kobe, and others. Ruth, about to play in '35 in his last Major League season, hit 13 home runs in Japan. The snapshot measures 2.5x4". In the photo, Ruth seems to be having a good time. The photo appears to have been cut unevenly. It has a blurry spot on the left side near the bottom, but Ruth is clearly pictured. The top of the photo is inscribed, in blue ink, "I caught Babe Ruth baseball, Dorothy." The back shows paper loss as well as some handwriting, in ink, which is not legible, because of the paper loss, except for the words "Babe Ruth." The snapshot has been encapsulated and PSA graded Type I AUTHENTIC.
