Circa 1910, a Hillerich and Bradsby Honus Wagner decal bat. The item was made to Wagner's specifications at 34 inches long and 42 ounces. The Louisville Slugger bat is stamped with the company's logo. The barrel features a decal with Wagner's headshot and the caption reads, "uses the Louisville Slugger Bats exclusively." On most of these bats, the decal has been scratched off over time, but on this item the decal is nearly complete except for minor scratches. The bat itself has small amounts of wear. Wagner, one of the most popular stars of his day, signed an endorsement deal with Hillerich and Bradsby in 1905, becoming the first player to endorse a commercial product. Wagner, one of the most legendary names in the sport's history, was one of the five inaugural members of the Baseball Hall of Fame, elected in 1936. Restoration is common with these style decal bats, but this one is 100% original, and non-restored decal bats in this condition are exceedingly rare.
