Displayed is a circa 1955 Don Drysdale Montreal Royals original Type I photograph. Hall of Famer Drysdale stood 6'5" and weighed 190 lbs, and the right-hander was nicknamed "Big D." He often pitched inside, brushing back and knocking down opponents. In 1955, Drysdale was in his second year of professional baseball, and at only 18 years of age, he was pitching for the Brooklyn Dodgers' Triple A farm club in Montreal. In '55, Big D had an 11-11 record with Montreal, with a 3.33 ERA. By the beginning of the '56 season, he was with the Brooklyn Dodgers. He pitched his entire career for the Brooklyn/Los Angeles franchise, with a 209-166 record and a 2.95 ERA. The 9-time All-Star was the 1962 NL Cy Young winner when he went 25-9, pitching a massive 314.1 NL-leading innings. He also led the NL that year in wins, and strikeouts (232). With fellow Hall of Famer Sandy Koufax, Drysdale gave the Dodgers a tremendous pair of pitchers in the early 1960s. Drysdale was a 3-time World Champion. After his career, he became a broadcaster and passed away in 1993.  The offered black & white photo, by David Bier, measures 5x7". The photo definitely captures the youth of the minor leaguer who would soon become the most intimidating pitcher in baseball. The photo has been encapsulated and PSA Certified as Type I AUTHENTIC.
