A full Cincinnati Reds uniform set worn by pitcher Ray Starr during the 1942 season. The gray flannel jersey features Cincinnati in red lettering on the front and Starr's number 37 in red with blue trim on the back. The collar tag shows that the jersey was made by Goldsmith and Starr, '42 (for the year) is stitched inside, with 44 (for the size) stitched onto the front rail. The jersey has a health patch stitched onto the right sleeve, showing support for the soldiers fighting World War II. The top shows nice use with two small holes in the front and also some insect damage to the felt numbers on the reverse side. The original pants, which include a belt, have Starr '42 stitched onto the inside waistband, as well as 38 for the garment's size. Starr, who played in the Major Leagues from 1932-45, spent the 1941-43 seasons in Cincinnati.
