Scarce pennant issued for the 1955 World Series between the New York Yankees and Brooklyn Dodgers. This is perhaps the most desirable of all post-war World Series pennants and it is especially significant for Dodgers collectors, because it commemorates the club's only World Championship while in Brooklyn. Unlike most pennants, the offered example bears allegiance to both clubs, with each team's name lettered in the center. An illustration of each team's respective stadium is pictured to the left, along with the names of the opposing managers: Casey Stengel and Walter Alston. A representation of a baseball near the tip, lettered "World Series 1955," completes the attractive design. The blue-felt pennant (29" in length) displays light crazing to the painted graphics and tack holes at the tip and corners; otherwise it remains in Excellent to Mint condition. Accompanied by a 1955 World Series program that bears the handwritten lineups for Game 2 at Yankee Stadium, but it has not been scored (9x11.75"; VG). Both the pennant and program were obtained at the Series in 1955 by one of our consignor's family members.
