"Golden Tomahawk Award" presented to Cleveland Indians second baseman Roberto Alomar in 2001. The award, in the form of a gold-colored plaque, was presented by The Wahoo Club and bears the engraved text: Gordon Cobbledick/2001/Golden Tomahawk Award/Roberto Alomar/Selected by his teammates/For his baseball skills and/competitive winning spirit/For his good sportsmanship and/contribution to baseball/on and off the field. Alomar enjoyed what was arguably his finest all-around season in 2001, batting a career-high .336 with 20 home runs and 100 RBI. Those numbers helped him finish fourth in the American League MVP voting that season. The recipient of the Golden Tomahawk Award, which was presented annually between the years 1963 and 2002, was chosen by members of the Cleveland chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America. The Alomar family can boast two recipients of the award, as Roberto's brother, Sandy Alomar, received the award in 1997. The award (11x14") remains in Excellent to Mint condition.
