A boxing robe worn by Larry Holmes before his first fight against Michael Spinks on September 21st, 1985. The red and white robe is satin with cloth lining and was manufactured by Everlast. The item, which shows fine use, is missing the sash and a patch has been removed from the front, but otherwise, the robe is completely original. The back of the robe reads, World Champion Larry Holmes, and the front features an Everlast patch and is signed in black ink by Holmes. The item comes from the collection of boxing historian and expert Craig Hamilton who has included a letter of opinion noting that the robe was worn by Holmes in his first fight against Spinks (his first professional loss). Holmes was a feared fighter during the 1970s and '80s. He won his first 48 fights with wins over such luminaries as Ken Norton (winning the WBC Championship), Earnie Shavers, and Muhammad Ali.
