Willie Naulls played 10 successful seasons in the NBA after starring at UCLA under Hall of Fame coach John Wooden. Displayed is a circa 1950s Willie Naulls New York Knicks original Type I photo that has been signed and inscribed by Naulls. The 6'6" small forward played for four NBA teams: St. Louis Hawks (1956-57), New York Knicks (1956-57 to 1962-63), San Francisco Warriors (1962-63), Boston Celtics (1963-64 to 1965-66). In 1960, he became the Captain of the New York Knicks, becoming the first African American to captain a major professional sports team in history. Naulls finished his career with three seasons on the Boston Celtics, and he helped them to NBA Championships in each of those seasons. In 1964, Naulls was part of a Boston Celtics' starting lineup that was solely made up of African American players, the first such lineup in NBA annals. Naulls, a 4-time NBA All-Star, finished his career with a lifetime scoring average of 15.8 PPG, and a career rebounding mark of 9.1 RPG. The offered 8x10" black & white photo is in fine condition. Using a fine tip black marker, Naulls neatly wrote, "My Best Regards, Willie Naulls." The back of the photo has Willie Naulls machine-printed at the top. The signed photo has been encapsulated and the autograph PSA/DNA Certified as AUTHENTIC, and the photo PSA Certified as TYPE I AUTHENTIC.
