Presented in the 1957 Topps Paul Hornung original artwork that was used to produce the rookie card of the Notre Dame and Green Bay Packers star. Hornung was both a fullback and a quarterback at Notre Dame, and he won the 1956 Heisman Trophy. At first, he was tried at both quarterback and fullback with the Packers, but the new head coach, Vince Lombardi, shifted Hornung to halfback, where his ability to pass the football made him a significant threat on the halfback option play and helped to make Hornung one of the stars of the Green Bay Packers dynasty. Hornung was on the Packers from 1957-66, and he was on four NFL Champions and on the first Super Bowl Champions. He was a quadruple threat who could run, catch, pass, and placekick. He became the first Heisman Trophy winner who also became an NFL MVP. He was inducted into both the College and Pro Football Halls of Fame. Famed Green Bay Packer Coach Vince Lombardi said that Hornung "was the best player I ever coached." The offered artwork was originally from the Topps' archives. The artwork and a reproduction 1957 Topps Horning rookie card are matted and framed 12.3x20.6" beautiful display. The artwork measures approx. 3.4x4.7". Hardly noticeable, at the bottom the artwork has what appears to be either clear tape or a remnant or glue from tape. There is also some tiny paper loss on the bottom left corner of the artwork. In the middle of the display is a 2.25x3.4" plaque-like notice that reads, Paul Hornung/Rookie Year/1957 TOPPS Original Art. At the bottom of the display is a 2.5x3.5" 1957 Topps reproduction of Hornung's rookie card. Imprinted on the card is, Certified Autograph Issue. Hornung has signed the reproduction card in neatly scripted blue fine tip marker. This eye-catching display is truly a one-of-a kind offering.
