Boy Scouts of America "Application for Merit Badge" filled out by noted film director Stanley Kubrick (1928-99) in 1942 when he was thirteen years old. PSA has encapsulated the application card and certified the handwriting as Authentic. This is certainly one of the earliest Stanley Kubrick handwritten items in the hobby and one that originates from the same family source as the other Kubrick items in this auction. The pre-printed application, which is on one side of a pre-addressed mailing card, has been filled out entirely in Kubrick's hand in blue ink along the top, including his printed name "Kubrick - Stanley." Additional handwritten information includes his address, Troop number, and the merit badge he is requesting: "Leathercraft." The bottom portion of the application has been filled out by his counselor and the district chairman. A purple stamp at the base indicates that the badge was "Awarded." Postmarked New York, NY Jul 10 1942. The card (5.5x3.5") displays a heavy vertical fold and three tack holes.
