Displayed is an impressive Wayne Turner 1998 Kentucky Wildcats NCAA Championship ring. The 1997-98 Kentucky team, under coach Tubby Smith, won the NCAA Championship after winning both the SEC regular season Championship and the SEC Tournament Championship. Kentucky beat the Utah Utes 78-69 in the NCAA Championship game held at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, before over 40,000 fans. Wayne Turner started at point guard and played 27 minutes. Turner scored six points, and he added four assists and three steals. The team went 35-4 for the entire season. Turner was the starting point guard on that team, and that season he averaged 9.3 PPG and 4.4 AST. Turner was on two NCAA Champions at Kentucky, and his photo was twice on the cover of Sports Illustrated. After his college career, Turner went on to briefly play in the NBA as a member of the Boston Celtics. The face of the stolidly attractive ring shows "NCAA" in gold letters on a black background. The size 11.5 ring is engraved inside with "Wayne Turner" with "Jostens 10K". Around the face of the ring is engraved, "1998 CHAMPIONS". Engraved on the left prong is both "KENTUCKY" and the Kentucky University seal. Engraved on the right prong is "TURNER" over an engraved image of a basketball going into a basket. The ring face has two simulated diamonds, and the ring weighs 26 grams. The offered NCAA Championship ring is in excellent condition.
