Mike Schmidt Rawlings/Adirondack model (A154) bat dating from the 1985 season. The bat, which measures 35.5 inches and weighs 34.25 ounces, has a peculiar history. Unfortunately, the area in which it was once stored was affected by a fire. The bat, obviously, was not destroyed in the fire, but it was heavily covered in ash, which required a professional cleaning. During that cleaning, Schmidt's uniform number on the knob was removed, as were many of its game-used characteristics on the barrel. However, evidence of game use is still apparent in the form of a few rack marks, moderate checking (grain separation on the back of the barrel), and an approximate eleven-inch multiple crack in the handle. Schmidt's black-marker signature (grading 6/10) on the barrel was luckily not lost during the cleaning, as it was painstakingly avoided, but one can still see the outline of ash around it as a result. Both the year code (5) and batch code (001) are stamped on the knob, along with the model number (A154), which is now covered by the PSA hologram label. Schmidt enjoyed another banner season in 1985, batting .277 with 33 home runs and 93 RBI. One of the greatest sluggers of his era, Schmidt led the National League in home runs on eight different occasions and finished his career with 548 home runs. COA from PSA (for the signature only).
