1907-09 H. M. Taylor Postcard Ty Cobb. Graded FR 1.5 by SGC. This is an attractive example of one of Ty Cobb’s acknowledged rookie cards from 1907. While the question of which issue should rightfully be called Cobb’s "true" rookie card is highly contentious, almost everyone would acknowledge that his H. M. Taylor Postcard, which is one of several Ty Cobb postcards issued in 1907, certainly qualifies to be included in the debate. Regardless of any arbitrary designation it might receive, we have always found Cobb’s H. M. Taylor card to be the most visually pleasing of all his 1907 issues because it pictures the young Georgia Peach striking a batting pose on the field. This card is new to the hobby and recently surfaced among a small group of cards and baseball memorabilia belonging to a long-time Detroit collector. The card is addressed in pencil on the reverse, and is postmarked "Nov. 15 1907." The card is well-centered and its technically accurate grade is due primarily to the condition of the upper left corner, which displays a few tiny diagonal creases and a small area of surface paper loss. Aside from those minor anomalies, it represents an outstanding example of this popular Cobb rookie card.
