Willie Mays, "the Say Hey, Kid," is considered by some esteemed baseball followers as the best player who ever lived. Displayed is a Willie Mays signed 8x10" color photo. The Hall of Fame center fielder played 23 Major League seasons: New York/San Francisco Giants (1951-52 & 1954-72), New York Mets (1972-73). With 660 lifetime home runs, Mays was for a time second only to Babe Ruth in career home runs. Known for his incredible "five-tool" ability, Mays was a 24-time All-Star, a 12-time Gold Glove recipient, a 4-time NL stolen base leader, a 4-time NL home run leader, and a 5-time NL OPS leader. He was the '51 NL Rookie of the Year and the '54 NL MVP. As a member of the '54 New York Giants World Champions, his tremendous over-the-shoulder catch in Game 1 in the World Series against the Cleveland Indians was so amazing that it has subsequently been known simply as "The Catch." The photo shows a youthful Mays, in a New York Giants home uniform, kneeling with a bat in a small ballpark, possibly in the Giants spring training home at the time in Phoenix, Arizona. Mays signed the photo with a nicely scripted signature in blue, fine tip marker. The signed photo is in nice condition, and it has a basic certification sticker, (#AN81329). The signed photo also comes with a PSA/DNA COA.
