Displayed is a 1961-63 Frank Frisch post-career professional model Hillerich & Bradsby Louisville Slugger bat. Frisch was born in the Bronx, in New York City, and the Hall of Famer was a four-sport star at Fordham University. Primarily a second baseman, he played for the New York Giants (1919-26) and the St. Louis Cardinals (1927-37). He was in eight World Series, and he was a 4-time World Series Champion. His ten World Series doubles tie him with Yogi Berra for the most in history. With a career .316 batting average, he has the highest average for any switch-hitter in baseball annals. His great speed and college affiliation earned him the nickname, The Fordham Flash. Frisch also managed three NL teams: the St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Chicago Cubs. In addition, he was a television color commentator. As a broadcaster, his trademark call, after a pitcher walked a batter, was also his lament as a manager, "Oh, those bases on balls!" The offered bat dates from 1961-63. It has a PSA hologram (cert. 1b28411), with the bat PSA marked as AUTHENTIC. The bat is 34.6" in length, and it has a weight of 33 ounces. The barrel has a facsimile Frank Frisch autograph etched into the wood. Near the end of the barrel are two small black marks, less than an inch in length. On the knob is etched F53, and the knob and the cap of the barrel both have very small holes drilled into the wood. Overall, the bat shows nice use, with some ball scrapes and some nicks and scratches. Yet, overall, the bat is in good condition.
