Displayed is a 2011 Justin Verlander Detroit Tigers dugout jacket that the 3-time Cy Young Award winner wore while he was the ace right-hander of the Tigers. Verlander is currently in his 20th season as a Major League hurler: Detroit Tigers (2005-17), Houston Astros (2017-2020 & 2022 & 2023-present), New York Mets (2023). He is a 3-time Cy Young Award winner, a 9-time All-Star, a 2-time World Series Champion, a pitching Triple Crown winner, and an AL MVP. He has thrown three no-hitters. Verlander's lifetime record is 259-143, with a 3.25 ERA. As the number one starter, Verlander helped the Tigers to a pair of pennants. One of his valuable pitching characteristics is his unusual ability to easily add or subtract velocity from his four-seam fastball. The offered dugout jacket is old school, in a classic understatement. Visually appealing, the blue jacket has Detroit across the chest in sewn-on orange script with blue trim. A working zipper runs down the front. The left sleeve has the iconic Old English letter D in sewn-on orange. The right sleeve has a Majestic manufacturer's logo. The outside back of the collar has the MLB logo. In the neck: A size 35 sewn-on tag; An MLB Authentic tag with a hologram (#894611 FJ); A Tiger Authentics tag showing an XL size, and showing that the jacket, both its shell and interior, are made of 100% polyester; A Therma Base tag. The jacket was obtained directly from the Detroit Tigers. The jacket shows wear, but MLB will not say "game used" unless they witness it. Despite some minor wear, the jacket is in excellent condition, and Verlander seems to be on a clear path to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
