Displayed is a 1990s Seattle Mariners' locker tag for Hall of Fame center fielder Ken Griffey Jr. The son of former Major League outfielder Ken Griffey, Junior played 22 seasons in the Major Leagues: Seattle Mariners (1989-99 & 2009-2010), Cincinnati Reds (2000-2008), Chicago White Sox (2008). Griffey hit 630 lifetime home runs, the seventh most in MLB history. He was a superb fielder, winning ten Gold Gloves. He hit .284 lifetime, with 2,781 hits. In 1990-91, "Junior" and his father became the first father and son to play on the same Major League team together, and on Sept. 14th of that season, the pair became the first father and son to hit Major League back-to-back home runs. The offered plastic locker tag measures 2x14". In white numerals and letters on a blue background is printed 24 JUNIOR. The tag has two pieces of Velcro on the back. The tag shows good use, with a few minor scratches and abrasions. The white numerals and letters show some slight darkening because of the passage of time. Junior wore #24 for both his stints as a Seattle Mariner. The locker tag makes a great remembrance of one of baseball's brightest stars, in large part because of its simplicity - no first or last name was needed as the 24 and the Junior sufficed. This Junior Griffey nameplate will draw interest in any collection.
