1978 real estate auction catalog, produced for the sale of Childwick Bury Estate, located in the hamlet of Childwickbury, Hertfordshire, England, inscribed on the cover by noted film director Stanley Kubrick. Kubrick purchased the estate in 1978 and lived there for the remainder of his life. He is also interred on the grounds, along with his eldest daughter and his widow still resides there. Here, he writes to his parents, using the cover to convey his joy at purchasing his new residence, "Dear Mother and Dad, If you look on Plan 1 (map) we have lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 47, 49, 25, +24, 179 acres. Scale of map 1 inch = 416ft. Hope you are well! Everyone looking forward to seeing you in September. Love, Stanley." Both the inscription and signature have been scripted in blue marker, and grade 8/10 overall. The seventy-nine-page catalog (12x8.5") displays moderate wear, including creases to the covers. This is a unique Kubrick signed piece and one that originates from the same family source as the other Kubrick items in this auction.
