Baltimore Orioles road jersey worn by Hall of Fame third baseman Brooks Robinson during the 1974 season. Graded Superior by Dave Grob of SGC ("Superior" is SGC's highest designation for a jersey). The gray knit jersey is lettered Orioles across the front and features the number 5 on the left breast and reverse. Robinson is lettered on the reverse, directly above the number. All letters and numerals are applied in orange on black tackle twill. A Wilson 42 label appears in the collar. Located on the left front tail is a gray strip tag bearing the year and set number (74 1) chain-stitched in black. Robinson has signed the jersey in black marker (grading 5/10) on the left front tail. The jersey is original as issued and displays moderate wear. Robinson, who played his entire twenty-three-year career with the Orioles (1955-77), batted .288 with 7 home runs and 59 RBI in 1974. Considered by most as the greatest defensive third baseman in history, he also received his fifteenth consecutive Gold Glove Award at season's end. (Robinson is tied with pitcher Jim Kaat for the most consecutive Gold Glove Awards at sixteen.) A former American League MVP and fifteen-time All-Star, Robinson finished his career with 268 home runs, 1,357 RBI, and a .267 lifetime average. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1983, his first year of eligibility. Full LOA from Dave Grob of SGC (Superior).
