Presented is a 1889 Andy Hawkins New York Yankees' game worn away jersey. Hawkins pitched in the Major Leagues for 10 seasons: San Diego Padres (1982-88), New York Yankees (1989-91), Oakland Athletics (1991). The right-hander had a lifetime 84-91 record, with a 4.22 ERA. In '89, when Hawkins wore the offered jersey in games for the New York Yankees, he had a 15-15 record, with a 4.80 ERA. Hawkins' best game was with the Yankees on July 1, 1990, when against the home team Chicago White Sox, he allowed no hits in a complete game 4-0 loss. the runs were unearned. However, since the White Sox only came to bat in eight innings because the team was ahead in what would have been the bottom of the 9th inning, Hawkins did not get credit for a no-hitter because he had pitched for only eight innings. The offered jersey has New York in navy blue sewn-on letters across the chest. In the collar has a sewn-on gray strip tag reading, "Hawkins 89 2," indicating the jersey was for the '89 season, Set 2. Seven silver-gray buttons run down the front. On the back is 40 in sewn-on, Navy-blue numerals. On the lower, outside tail: Wilson manufacturer's tag, a Steiner Game Used tag (#24462), a size 46 tag, "Tapered" tag, a "BX" tag, as well as a "Steiner Collectibles" sticker. There are some stains on the right sleeve. The jersey is in overall fine condition.
