Presented is a baseball signed by six (6) members of the New York 50-Home Run Club, including the signatures of Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays, plus the autographs of Hall of Famers Johnny Mize and Ralph Kiner, plus stars Cecil Fielder and George Foster. The figurative New York 50-Home Run Club is herein interpreted liberally to include players having at some point a connection to New York City baseball teams: 1) Mickey Mantle - The Hall of Fame center fielder played his entire Major League career with the New York Yankees, and he hit 536 lifetimes homers, more than any other switch-hitter in baseball history. Mickey hit 54 home runs in 1961 when he and Roger Maris were chasing Babe Ruth's record of 60 home runs in a season, and Mantle was slowed by a hip abscess and Maris hit his 61 blasts. 2) Willie Mays - The Hall of Fame center fielder hit 51 home runs in 1954 in helping the New York Giants become World Champions. The Say Hey Kid hit 52 home runs in 1965, as a member of the San Francisco Giants. Mays played part of 1972 and all of '73 with the New York Mets and finished his career with 660 homers. 3) Johnny Mize - "Big Jawn" played 16 Major League seasons (St. Louis Cardinals, New York Giants, New York Yankees). The Hall of Fame first baseman hit 51 home runs for the '47 Giants. 4) Ralph Kiner - The Hall of Fame outfielder played only ten Major League seasons as his career was cut short by an ailing back. Kiner made the most of his time in the Major Leagues, as he hit 369 home runs while playing for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Cubs, and Cleveland Indians. He hit 54 homers in '49, with the Pirates. Ralph established his New York connection by serving as a broadcaster with the New York Mets from the team's start in 1962 until 2014, the year he passed away. 5) Cecil Fielder - the first baseman and designated hitter played 13 Major League seasons, with five teams in the American League. He hit 51 home runs while playing for the Detroit Tigers in 1990, and he gained his New York connection by playing for the New York Yankees in 1996-97. 6) George Foster - The outfielder was a key member of the famous Big Red Machine of the 1970s Cincinnati Reds. Foster hit 52 homers for Cincinnati to lead the NL in 1977, and also led the senior circuit in runs (124) and RBIs (149) en route to an NL MVP Award and a World's Championship. Foster's ties to New York were from 1982-86 when he played for the New York Mets.
