Offered is a 2003 game used Nick Johnson New York Yankees bat from the first baseman's first tour with the Bronx Bombers. Johnson played 10 Major League seasons: New York Yankees (2001-03 & 2010), Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals (2004-08), Florida Marlins (2009), Baltimore Orioles (2012). Johnson is a nephew former Major League shortstop Larry Bowa. Johnson was known for having a fine eye at the plate, drawing walks that helped him have a fine career OBP of .399. In the 2003 season when Johnson game used the offered bat, the first sacker played in 96 games, and had 14 homers while hitting .284. His OPS that year was an excellent .894. For his Major League career, Johnson batted .268, with 95 round-trippers and 398 RBIs. Johnson missed the 2007 and 2011 seasons because of injuries, and he was essentially forced to retire after the 2012 season because of an accumulation of injuries. The displayed Rawlings Adirondack bat has a length of 33.6" and a weight of 32.25 ounces. Etched on the barrel: Big Stick/NICK JOHNSON/PRO. Imprinted on the lower barrel is "R" and "Rawlings Adirondack." Etched on the knob is M460B and some partially visible numbers, with what appears to be "96" and "08" visible. The bat shows great use: ball marks, paint transfers, wood scratches, small stains, loss of surface finish at the end of the knob and the end of the barrel. There is also an unusual factor - about 8" of what seems to be solidified pine tar around the bat's midpoint.
