The Holy Grail of post war sports cards from the scarce hi number series of Topps’ premier 1952 issue. This first ever Topps card of Mickey Mantle, this is a classic example of the New York Yankees’ all time great. Card exhibits even corner wear, a strikingly vivid image, 65/35 left to right centering and 55/45 top to bottom centering, and has a clean back with zero paper loss on both the obverse and reverse. Conservatively graded VG+, only minimal surface wear in the upper corners of the sky blue background and minor surfaces creases to the left and right of the name box hold this card from an EX grade. A key card in any post war collection, and still one of the most desired cards in the hobby.
