Paul Molitor signed game used bat is a Hillerich and Bradsby model H176 dating from the 1979 labeling period and is a rare specimen which was used in that year's tour of Japan. Ash bat is uncracked with outstanding use displayed including barrel checking, pine tar on the handle, ball impressions, and blue stamp ink transfers on the barrel. Measures 34.0" and weighs 31.0 ounces, with number 4 written on the knob in thick black marker. The Hall of Famer signed between trademark and barrel stamp in 9/10 black marker along with "Gamer" inscription. With Molitor placing 2nd in Rookie of the Year balloting in '78 (behind Lou Whitaker), this stands as a very early example from the 4-time Silver Slugger award winner, who would proceed to earn World Series MVP honors with the Toronto Blue Jays in 1993. Comes with PSA/DNA LOA grading this magnificent scarcity a near-perfect GU 9.5 (note that the letter is for game use only and does not offer an opinion on the signature or inscription).
