Displayed is a 1912 Cincinnati Reds real photo postcard. The postcard measures 3.25x4.8". Handprinted across the top of the postcard by an unknown hand is "Cincinnati Red Legs". On the bottom of the card, hand printed by an unknown hand, "April 1912", and, "F. Boellinger" (the photographer). Those pictured in the photo are also named, again, in white handwritten printing: Top Row - Severeid, McDonald, Humphries, Fromme, Marsans, Bagby, Keefe, Prough, Casper. Second Row: Almeida, Suggs, Miller, Williams, McLean, Grant, Horsey, Mitchell, Dietz. Front Row: Clark, Smith, Benton, Mgr. O'Day, Eagan, Hoblitzell, Besher, Bates. In Front: Phelan, Mascot Brownie Burke, Esmond. The '12 Reds had a record of 75-78-2. The team finished in 4th place in the NL. George Suggs was the top pitcher, as he went 19-16, with a 2.94 ERA. The regular with the highest batting average was outfielder Armando Marsans, who hit .317. Marsans and infielder Rafael Almeida were both born in Cuba and before joining the Reds had played in the Negro Leagues with the integrated All-Nations team. The offered photo has some very minor surface loss along the bottom edge, and the top of Cincinnati Red Legs at the top of the postcard, may have been cut off. Written in ink from the hand of Dick Hoblitzell is "Best Wishes to Bonnie from Hobby/May 9th 1912". Note: we showed the signature to PSA who deemed it "inconclusive". The back has some paper remnants, most likely from an album page. Hoblitzell spent 12 years in the Major Leagues: Cincinnati Reds (1908-14) and Boston Red Sox (1914-18). He batted a career .278. The signed postcard, in very good condition. It is signed on te back by Hoblitzell and is from the Dick Hoblitzell Collection.
