Bob Probert is one of the most famous fighters/enforcers in NHL history. Displayed is a 2001-02 Bob Probert Chicago Blackhawks' game worn jersey. Probert, a left wing, played 17 seasons in the NHL: Detroit Red Wings (1985-86 to 1993-94), and Chicago Blackhawks (1995-96 to 2001-02). He was 6'3", 235 lbs., and over his career, he had 3,300 penalty minutes, the fifth-highest total in NHL annals. His best season was in 1987-88 when he accumulated 398 penalty minutes, the sixth-highest single-season total ever. Probert also scored 29 goals that season and added 33 assists for 62 points. In the late 1980s and early 1990s while with Detroit, Probert teamed with fellow fighter/enforcer Joey Kocur to form a tough guy tandem known as the Bruise Brothers. The offered jersey was game worn during the 2001-02 season, Probert's final year as a player. That season, Probert played in 61 games. He was used almost exclusively for his intimidation and fighting skills. He scored one goal that year and added three assists, and he tallied 176 penalty minutes. The Koho mesh red jersey has a tag in the back of the neck that reads, Made in Canada and indicates size 56. The neck area also has reinforced front and back stitching in the collar. Each sleeve has both a 24 in white sewn-on numerals and a sewn-on Blackhawks crossed-tomahawks patch. The chest has a sewn-on multi-colored Blackhawks headdress logo. The back has both a red nameplate and white sewn-on letters reading PROBERT. The back also has 24 in white sewn-on letters with black trim. There is also a worn patch inside the jersey behind the number on back. The patch would normally have had the appropriate year on it, but the year indication has washed out. The left inside seam has an Air-Knit tag that shows the jersey as 100% polyester. The jersey is all original and shows fine use, including mild pilling, stick marks, loose threads, and broken stitches at the collar, indicating that probably someone took hold of this jersey during a fight and stretched the neck area. The back of the outside neck has a Koho manufacturer's patch. Inside the back tail of the jersey, on the area of the NHL shield, a "4" is written in marker, indicating the set. There is a fight strap, and the lower back outside tail has a sewn-on NHL patch. The jersey's fine use makes the offering a fitting remembrance from one of the popular, and yet notorious, Bruise Brothers - Bob Probert.
