Despite his ostracism from organized baseball in 1921, Joe Jackson's stardom was such that Hillerich & Bradsby continued to produce retail bats bearing his name. Offered here is an extremely scarce and desirable retail example of his famed two-toned "Black Betsy" bat dating from the 1932-1933 manufacturing period. The center brand bears the model number "125 J," while Jackson's last name only is stamped in block letters on the barrel. The number "35," denoting the bat's length (35") is stamped on the knob. The bat displays excellent use, including a crack in the handle and checking on the back barrel, both of which have been repaired. Given the extreme rarity, not to mention the prohibitive cost, of a Joe Jackson game-used "Black Betsty" bat, a store model such as this is the next best option for collectors looking to add perhaps the most legendary baseball bat in history to their collection. Full LOA from PSA (designating the bat as a "Retail Model").
