Game used base from Tony Gwynn's farewell series as the San Diego Padres hit the road to take on the Atlanta Braves on August 21, 2001. Official Major League base measures roughly 15x15" with Hollywood Base logo imprinted on top. Extensive use is evident with spike and clay marks throughout; top edge has a Braves logo, bottom has MLB logo, and each side pays tribute to the Hall of Fame hitman with his number 19. Signed by Gwynn in large 5/10 black marker across much of the top half, and also signed by 10 legends from the 2001 Braves team including: Chipper Jones, Greg Maddux, Andruw Jones, John Smoltz, Bobby Cox, Marcus Giles, Rafael Furcal, Javy Lopez, and Leo Mazzone; every Braves signatory added at least one inscription. Post of the base has been removed. MLB hologram GT00039857 is on the underside (note - use GT039857 to search the MLB Authentication database). Gwynn saw limited action in his final season, appearing in 71 games, and did not play in this tribute game. Still, the 8-time NL batting title winner kept his amazing streak going, finishing his career with 19 consecutive seasons batting over .300, including his swan song campaign at .324.
