1953 Topps #82 Mickey Mantle, flawlessly signed in blue Sharpie by Mantle on the front. PSA has encapsulated the card, grading the signature GEM MINT 10 and the card Authentic. This is Mantle's second Topps card and autographed examples, in addition to being scarce, have always been coveted by advanced collectors. The reason for the "Authentic" designation is that there was a small area of surface paper loss along the top border, touching upon Mantle's cap. Our consignor, who collected the card as a child, remedied the situation by making a color copy of another 1953 Bowman Mantle card. He then replaced the lost paper by carefully cutting out the same section on the color copy and gluing it on the card. The replacement is noticeable upon close inspection, but allows the card to retain the integrity of its original aesthetics. The card also displays a few light creases and tiny area of staining along the top.
