Extremely early "Bob Clemente" signature dating from his 1956 sophomore season. This piece has a unique provenance because it was obtained in person by our consignor when he was thirteen years old while attending a game between the Pirates and Giants at the Polo Grounds on July 7, 1956. Like all young fans, he was eager to obtain the signatures of some of the players and as luck would have it, Clemente was one of the players who obliged him that day. Clemente's blue-ink "Bob Clemente" signature (grading 9/10) occupies the bottom spot on a sheet that includes the signatures of Pirates manager Bobby Bragan and relief pitcher Nelson King. Many years later, he commemorated the day by having both the small autographed sheet (4x2.75"; GD-VG) and his ticket stub from the game (3.25x1.75"; VG) mounted (by means of photo corners) together with a modern color photo (7.25x9.5") of Clemente. Clemente had two singles in four at bats that day in a losing effort, as the Giants defeated the Pirates 3-2. Total dimensions: 20x24". Full LOA from PSA.
