"A fiery horse with the speed of light, a cloud of dust and a hearty 'Hi-Yo, Silver,'" were the opening words (intoned with rousing music from Rossini's William Tell Overture) to America's first television Western hit series, The Lone Ranger. Presented is a colorful The Lone Ranger and Tonto Autographed Limited Edition Lithograph, with the signatures of Clayton Moore (who portrayed the Lone Ranger) and Jay Silverheels (who portrayed Tonto). The Lone Ranger television series ran from 1949-57, with Moore missing about a year of the show because of a contract dispute. In all, the television series had 221 episodes. The Lone Ranger behaved within a strict moral code, and he was called "kemo sabe" (meaning trusted scout) by his friend Tonto. The Lone Ranger was famous for his use of silver bullets, for his black mask, and for his horse, Silver. Moore was elected to the Stuntmen's Hall of Fame and the Western Performers Hall of Fame. Jay Silverheels, who portrayed Tonto, was born as Harold Smith, was a Mohawk Native American, and grew up on the Six Nations Reserve in Ontario, Canada. An accomplished lacrosse player, he played box lacrosse professionally for the Toronto Tecumsehs. He took his stage name of Jay Silverheels from his nickname as a lacrosse player. He has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and he was elected to the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame as a veteran player. Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels also made two Lone Ranger feature films. The lithograph measures 24x30". It contains nine color photos featuring The Lone Ranger and/or Tonto. Both Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels have signed the lithograph in black marker and each signature is big, bold, and neatly written. The lithograph is hand-numbered at the bottom, by an unknown hand, as 1125/1500. The offering is in excellent condition, and it comes with a PSA LOA for the signatures.
