Offered is an original "Snoopy" drawing by Charles Schulz that has both a personalized inscription and an autograph. Charles Monroe "Sparky" Schulz (1922-2000) was one of the most important cartoonists in history, and he created the Peanuts comic strip, with its main characters being Charlie Brown and his dog Snoopy. In an Oct. 13, 2007, article in The Wall Street Journal, famed cartoonist Bill Watterson analyzed the influence of Schulz. "Peanuts pretty much defined the modern comic strip," said Watterson. "The clean, minimalist drawings, the sarcastic humor, the unflinching emotional honesty... in countless ways, Schulz blazed a wide trail that most every other cartoonist has tried to follow." At its peak, Peanuts appeared in 2,600 newspapers, in 75 countries, and in 27 languages. Schulz was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, and grew up in the twin Minnesota city of Minneapolis, both heavy, hotbeds of hockey, and he often featured hockey in the Peanuts cartoons. He played hockey for most of his life on an amateur level and even owned an ice arena in California, and he was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame. The Peanuts characters continue to appear in films, television shows, and on myriad gift items. The presented Schulz drawing is on paper or cardstock measuring 7x7", in a pre-printed rectangle with "PEANUTS" pre-printed in the upper left corner. Mostly using a fine-tip black marker, Schulz also adds a little color with a green marker creating some grass. Snoopy has a contented, friendly smile. Again, using the fine tip black marker, Schulz inscribes the drawing thusly: "For Ben with best wishes - ." Still using a fine-tip black marker, Schulz signs simply "SCHULZ" in large, printed letters. The drawing has been encapsulated and PSA/DNA certified as AUTHENTIC AUTO.
