Duplicate glass plate negative featuring an aerial view of the George Washington Bridge one day after its official opening in 1931. Taken from the vantage point of New Jersey, the image shows a steady stream of traffic in both directions as commuters flock to the newly built bridge. The date, "Oct 26 1931" is stamped in the lower left corner of the reverse. (The bridge opened on October 25, 1931.) The negative (7x5") displays a small blemish in the lower left corner and a few light scratches. Please note: the positive image seen on our website is for illustrative purposes only and does not accompany the negative; only the negative is offered in this lot.
