Straight from his personal collection comes this award honoring Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rocky Bleier a month after he and his teammates defeated the Minnesota Vikings, 16-6, in Super Bowl IX. It was Bleier's first of four championships with the Steelers. Each member of the team was awarded one of these trophies that stands about 14" tall and 7" wide on its wood base. The bronzed football on top is an actual Wilson Official NFL ball. The faux-gold plate under the football reads: "ROCKY BLEIER RUNNING BACK, PITTSBURGH STEELERS SUPER BOWL CHAMPION PRESENTED BY POST-GAZETTE DAPPER DAN CLUB FEB. 9, 1975." After playing sparingly over his first four seasons, Bleier earned a starting job in 1974 with Pittsburgh, and during the Super Bowl, he carried the ball 17 times for 65 yards, second behind only Hall of Famer Franco Harris, who earned MVP honors for the game. The trophy is in EX condition and commemorates a staunch and steady Steeler who played 11 seasons with the franchise.
