Displayed is a 1991 Sammy Sosa Chicago White Sox rookie-era game used Hillerich and Bradsby ash bat. Sosa played for 18 Major League seasons: Texas Rangers (1989 & 2007), Chicago White Sox (1989-91), Chicago Cubs (1992-2004), Baltimore Orioles (2005). Sosa hit 609 career home runs, with a lifetime .273 batting average. Sosa started the 1989 season as a Texas Ranger, batting .238, with one homer. He played the second half of that season with the White Sox, batting .273, with three home runs. His rookie season total was four homers and a .257 average. Later, after adding lots of muscle, Sosa from 1998-2001 hit over 60 home runs in three seasons, often battling fellow muscular hitter Mark McGwire of the St. Louis Cardinals to be the NL home run champ. The displayed bat is 34.5 inches long, and it weighs 31.2 ounces. It sports a black finish and is uncracked. Etched into the barrel is "GENUINE G157/SAMMY SOSA/CHICAGO WHITE SOX." The bat has a taped handle, and it shows evidence of excellent use. The bat comes with a PSA/DNA Letter of Grading and Authenticity. The PSA/DNA certification (displayed on a sticker on the knob) is 1B14126. The bat grade is PSA GU 9.
