Presented is a rare, circa 1987 Ken Griffey Jr. game used, right-handed, Franklin orange-and-white batting glove. In '87, Hall of Fame center fielder Griffey played in high school in the spring, and Griffey can be seen in photos/videos having orange on his batting gloves in high school. After signing with the Seattle Mariners' organization, Griffey played at Bellingham, a Mariners' affiliate - a Low-A level team in the Northwest League. At Bellingham, in 54 games Griffey batted .304, with 14 homers and 40 RBIs. He both started and ended his Major League career with Seattle, playing from 1989-99 & 2009-10. In between stints in Seattle, Griffey played nine years for the Cincinnati Reds and a season with the Chicago White Sox. In his MLB career, Griffey belted 630 home runs, batted .284, with 2,781 hits and an OPS of .907. A terrific defensive player, Griffey was a 10-time Gold Glove winner and the 1997 AL MVP. A manufacturer's tag inside the glove reads, "Made in Korea" and shows "XL" for size. The glove exhibits great use. There is lots of pine tar staining in the palm, loose threads, and a one-inch rip in the lower part of the pinkie slot. Griffey signed the wristband, in blue ink, as "Ken Griffey Jr." It is very rare to find a Ken Griffey Jr. game used and signed batting glove from such an early part of his career.
