Collection of fifty-eight original photos, spanning the years 1913-1916, originating from a family photo album. A large number of photos picture the unidentified family member posing with members of his hunting party, including baseball's "Hit King," Ty Cobb, and America's "March King," John Philip Sousa. Cobb is pictured in nine of the photos, while Sousa is captured in seven. Forty-nine of the photos are mounted upon black album pages (approximately 13.5x10.75"), including all the photos of Cobb and Sousa. Also included are several photos picturing Sousa's son, John Philip Sousa Jr. Many of the album pages are dated and many identify the individuals pictured. Cobb was an avid hunter and Sousa was renowned for his trapshooting skill, so it is not surprising to see them both in this context. It appears, from the spoils of their hunt shown, that these hunting excursions were mainly for game birds, although one rabbit can be seen together with a string of birds. Photo sizes vary, but the majority measure approximately 5.75x3.5", including all of those picturing Cobb and Sousa. Aside from forty-nine of the photos having been mounted (by means of an adhesive) the collection remains in Excellent condition overall.
