Collection of ninety photographs, each capturing Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame outfielder Ted Williams. These photos originate from the personal collection of a former Boston sportswriter, who acquired most of them from either his newspaper's photo department or the Boston Red Sox public relations department. Many are news photos (including wire photos, where the caption is embedded in the photograph), but publicity photos and non-commercial photos are also present. Williams is captured both during and after his playing career and on and off the field; however, the majority are post-career images. Included are: a rare image of Williams wearing a necktie, two photos of him coaching his son John Henry, and a photo of Williams posing with Jackie Robinson. Approximately seventy percent of the photos measure either 7x9" or 8x10", with the remainder mostly smaller. Because most are news photos, many display flaws consistent with their former use, including, but not limited to, trimming, creasing, crazing, edge tears, editorial shading and/or markings, pinholes, and writing on the reverse. Please note: none of the photos have been evaluated by PSA, therefore no guarantees are made regarding specific Type designations, however, we believe the majority are NOT Type I examples.
