Collection of forty-five photographs capturing members of the New York Yankees over the course of two decades (1940s/1950s). These photos originate from the personal collection of a former Boston sportswriter, who acquired most of them from either his newspaper's photo department, or the New York Yankees public relations department. Each is a press photo and includes the original paper news caption affixed to the reverse. Five photos date to the late 1940s, while the remainder date to the early 1950s (thirty-three date specifically from 1951). Many capture game action and therefore feature players from other teams as well. Among the players featured here, either alone or with teammates, are Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra, Jackie Robinson, Bucky Harris, Charlie Keller, Tommy Henrich, Phil Rizzuto, Johnny Mize, Cliff Mapes, Joe Collins, Lou Boudreau, Casey Stengel, Gil McDougald, Vic Raschi, Ed Lopat, Gene Woodling, Roy Campanella, Bobby Brown, Bob Kuzava, Hank Bauer, and Joe Page. Nearly all the photos measure 7x9". Because all are press photos, they display flaws consistent with their former use, including, but not limited to, trimming, creasing, crazing, edge tears, editorial shading and/or markings, pinholes, and writing on the reverse.
