Displayed is a Dec. 16, 1971, Bob Foster vs. Brian Kelly on-site fight poster for both the World Boxing Council (WBC) Light Heavyweight and The Ring Championships, held at Fairgrounds Arena, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Foster came into the fight with a 45-5 record, with all of his losses coming against heavyweights. Kelly entered the bout with a record of 39-4, including 17 knockouts. Foster dominated the fight, knocking Kelly to the canvas twice in the second round, both times with a right cross. After the bell ending the second round, it seemed that Foster softly suggested to Kelly that the challenger throw in the towel, but Kelly kept fighting and in the third round, Foster again knocked Kelly to the canvas with a left hook, and referee Earle Kell stopped the fight, giving Foster a TKO win after 1:56 in the round. The 6'3" Foster finished his career with a record of 56-8-1, with 46 knockouts. He fought and lost to both Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier, both times when Foster stepped up to fight as a heavyweight. Foster made 14 successful Light Heavyweight Title defenses. In 1994, Ring magazine named Foster as the third greatest light heavyweight in history. The 14x22.8" on-site poster reads, in part, "Pat O'Grady Sports Promotions Presents WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHT/15 RD. - Light Heavyweight Title 15 RD./Brian Kelly Burden World Rated Challenger/Bob Foster World Champion/Thursday * Dec. 16 * 8:15 P.M./Fairgrounds Arena Oklahoma City." The poster is in EXCELLENT condition.
