Classic all-wood Victoriaville stick was game used by Boston Bruins Hall of Fame powerhouse Phil Esposito, circa 1970. One side of the shaft of the left-handed stick is stamped with "Mailhot & Freres (brothers, in French) Inc., Victoriaville Que," while the adjoining side has a "P Esposito" stamp. Original black cloth tape remains on the blade though a few strands have come off, and the white tape on the handle forms a butt-end which displays outstanding use. Espo signed the shaft along with his number in crisp black Sharpie rating 8/10. Known for his rugged style, belied by his deft scoring touch, Esposito's league-leading 43 goals in the 1969-70 season touched off an amazing string of six consecutive seasons in which he led the NHL in that category, and it is difficult to imagine that this well-worn twig wouldn't have been used for some of them. Great compliment to a Ray Bourque number 7 stick available elsewhere in this auction, as Bourque changed his number to 77 fairly early in his career in tribute to his predecessor. Comes with PSA LOA for autograph.
