Displayed is a 1930 Lou Gehrig signed Original Type I photo with detailed provenance. "The Iron Horse" was still at his peak in 1930, on his way to eventually playing in 2,130 consecutive games, the Major League record until it was broken by Cal Ripken Jr. Gehrig was amazing in '30, as the Hall of Fame first baseman batted .379, hit 41 home runs, and led the AL in RBIs (173) and total bases (419). The photo measures approx. 4.6x6.6". Gehrig signed the photo with a big and bold, neat signature, using blue ink from a fountain pen. The photo has a notation on back that reads, "1930 Old Washington Senator's [sic] in Washington D.C./Yankee [sic] playing the Senators. He signed it at Fenway Park Boston 1930 when Yankee [sic] Played Boston." A gentleman took the photo in Washington when the Senators were playing the Yankees, and then had the photo signed in Boston. There is a "shadow" on the photo, about 1.7 inches long and to the viewer's right of Gehrig. The verso exhibits spotting, and an "X" has been written over the second part of the inscription on back. The snapshot photo has been encapsulated and PSA/DNA certified as Type I AUTHENTIC. The Gehrig signature is in blue ink from a ballpoint pen, and it rates an 8/10.
