Displayed is a signed, Terry Kennedy game-used catcher's mitt. Kennedy is the son of Bob Kennedy, who had a long-time career with MLB as a player, manager, and executive, and thus, in growing up, Terry was exposed to the informal instruction of some of baseball's all-time greats, such as Hall of Famers Ted Williams and Stan Musial. Kennedy played in the Major Leagues from 1978-91: St Louis Cardinals (1978-80); San Diego Padres (1981-86); Baltimore Orioles (1987-88); San Francisco Giants (1989-91). A left-handed hitter, he batted a lifetime .264, with 113 homers. When Terry, playing for San Diego, hit a double to drive in two runs in the 1984 World Series, he and his father, Bob Kennedy, made history. Bob Kennedy had an RBI for the Cleveland Indians in the 1948 World Series, and thus Terry and Bob Kennedy became the first father and son team to have a World Series RBI in baseball history. In 1983, Terry batted .284 for the season, and he became the first San Diego Padre to win a Silver Slugger Award, at any position. The offered catcher's mitt has a Rawlings manufacturer's tag on the back. On the mitt is "FOR THE PROFESSIONAL PLAYER." In the pocket is "Deep Well Pocket" and "Heart of the Hide." The back of the thumb slot reads, "Nu-Grip-Streamlined." On the back of the webbing is "16," written in black marker by an unknown hand. Below the pocket is imprinted "DB & P Rawlings Made in U.S.A." The mitt exhibits great wear.
