1929 Shonen Club Babe Ruth. Graded VG-EX 4 by SGC. This Japanese issue is one of forty different postcards issued in the August 29, 1929, issue of Shonen Club, which was a Japanese magazine for young adults. Interestingly, it was the only baseball-related postcard in the set, a fact that attests to the extent of Ruth's popularity in Japan a full five years prior to his celebrated visit there in 1934. The Japanese text on the front provides a flowery description of Ruth's prowess at the plate. This is a fine example of this seldom-seen Ruth card and just the fifth we have offered in the past twenty-five years.
